“Put me in Coach… I’m ready to play!”
Experience what it is like to play adaptive sports in a fun wheelchair softball tournament… And, help us raise money for Midwest Adaptive Sports to contribute towards continuing the development of the KC Parks and Rec field in Pleasant Valley Park.
Midwest Adaptive Sports has been working with Kansas City Parks and Recreation to help transform portions of the Pleasant Valley Park Athletic Complex for adaptive sports. In the Fall of 2019, the park opened the first wheelchair softball field in the metro area thanks to a private/public partnership.

Prior to the construction of this field, the closest other fields are located in Topeka, Omaha and St.Louis. Midwest Adaptive Sport is raising money to help fund continuing development of the field and park.
But, opening the field was only phase one. Now, Midwest Adaptive Sports is asking for your help to raise money towards future phases of the adaptive sports facility development.

FAQs
(1) What steps are you taking to protect the health and well-being anyone involved with this event during the COVID-19 pandemic?
We are continuously monitoring the situation relating to COVID-19. Appropriate precautions will be taken based on a plan submitted to KC Parks and Rec, the latest local regulations and CDC guidelines at the time of the event.
Updates or changes will be shared by Midwest Adaptive Sport if needed prior to the event.
(2) How do we register for the wheelchair softball tournament?
Simply click on any of the team registration buttons, which will lead you through the online registration process. An e-mail confirmation of your registration will be sent to you as well as to the event organizers.
From there, you will asked to give us some basic information (your name, email, a fundraising goal, and a picture) so we can set up your personalized fundraising page that you will share with all of your family, friends, coworkers, and social media contacts.
(3) What is the entry fee to participate?
Your entry fee to participate is only $25. But, that is truly the bare minimum that we hope players and teams will commit to helping raise for Midwest Adaptive Sports.
What we would really love to see is every member of your team commit to raising at least $350 towards an overall donations fundraising goal of $15,000.
(4) How does the fundraising process work?
Once you complete the registration process, you will see prompts to create a personalized fundraising page. Please upload a good photo of yourself to personalize your page. We’ll get the page created for you and send a unique website URL that you’ll be able to share through email, text, social media posts, etc to all of your friends, family and coworkers directing them to your personal page and asking them for donations.
(5) How Do People Donate to Me or My Team?
Online donations can be made through your personalized fundraising page. Each player will have a unique URL to share with friends, family, and colleagues.
Major credit cards will be accepted. Plus, donors will have the option to help cover processing fees as a way to maximize their donations to Midwest Adpative Sports.
(6) Where do all the proceeds from this fundraiser go?
Proceeds from this fundraiser will be directed to the Kansas City Parks and Recreation department for continued development of the adaptive sports field that has been build inside Pleasant Valley Park.
(7) How much time will it take to complete this year’s event?
We are estimating about 4 hours to complete the games, additional wheelchair sports demonstrations and the awards ceremony. Auction items, additional games and raffle opportunities will be provided during the event.
(8) What kind of training would you suggest to increase my team’s chances?
Nothing… Come have some FUN! Midwest Adaptive Sports will provide everything you need to play.
(9) I’m not really a softball player, can I still be involved?
See the previous FAQ. Come have some FUN!
(10) What type of clothing would you suggest for game day?
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Be sure to check the weather to know what will be most appropriate and comfortable for event day.
All participants and volunteers will be asked to bring a mask. Depending on local regulations and your comfort level at the time of the event, requirements will be communicated at the event.
(11) Who should I contact with other questions?
Please email softball@midwestadaptivesports.org. Someone will reply to you within 24 to 48 hours.
